Block Drafting
The block is your starting point for many of the paper patterns you will make. It saves lots of time and effort each time you draft a pattern.
Pattern Cutting
Learn all the techniques you need to know to create any pattern. Master the basics then move on to more complicated patterning skills.
What will you need?
Forget about expensive tools and gadgets, you only need the most basic of tools. You'll need a sewing machine, but remember, a bad worker blames their tools, a cheap basic sewing machine is all you need.
You'll just need a basic sewing kit, some paper, a ruler, tape measure, pencil and eraser. That's really it!
With over 30 years of dressmaking pattern cutting and sewing experience....
I often get told I make it look easy. It can be, it just requires learning new skills, and plenty of practice.
I'm Ali, and I started Creative Bobbin to bring you traditional classroom pencil and paper learning, without the college!
Technology has changed the face of education for the 2020's, we can learn on the move with the growth of online video. Yay for YouTube!
Many online tutorials I've seen are over-complicated.. At Creative Bobbin, I keep it simple, and show you how to get started with the most basic of equipment, meaning you really don't need to go and spends lots of money!
I believe the traditional paper and pencil methods are still the best, digital pattern making is neither quicker or easier, and it can stifle your creativity! Who wants that!
Don't just take my word for it!
